It all began back in 1880 with 'the little elephant'. Margarete Steiff originally intended it to be a cute pin cushion. The children, however, grew fond of it as a toy. And so it became the forerunner to a limitless number of Steiff friends for life. On their 135th anniversary, Steiff now includes the felt elephant in the series of ornaments enclosed in hand-blown glass balls: 3 inches in diameter and made of high quality cream wool felt, just like in that time.
