Layaway

Spread the cost of a piece over a few months. It is set aside in your name from the first payment and ships, fully insured, once it is paid in full.

How it works

• Layaway is available on orders of $100 or more. There are no exclusions. You can also start a layaway in the shop.
• In your cart, choose Pay over time with layaway, pick the number of months and accept the layaway terms.
• Your first payment is made at checkout. Each later payment is due on the same day of the month as your order (or the last day of a shorter month).
• You can pay early, or pay off the balance at any time, with no penalty.
• Make each payment from My account › Layaway, or by check or money order, or call us and pay by phone, or pay in the shop.

How many months

The length depends on your order total, including shipping and tax:

• $100 to $599: 2 or 3 months
• $599.01 to $1,500: 3 to 6 months
• Over $1,500: 3 to 8 months
• From $2,500, a longer plan can be arranged with the shop’s approval.

Reminders

We email you five days before each payment is due. If a payment is late, we send a reminder and give you a call.

Good to know

• Layaways are final sales and can’t be cancelled by the customer.
• If a payment is more than two months late, the layaway ends: Village Bears keeps 40% of the order total, anything you have paid beyond that becomes store credit in your account, and the piece returns to stock.
• Reward points can’t be used on a layaway order. You earn points on the full order when it ships.
